The coated hexogen or octogen is hot extracted after predrying with a (halo) aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon solvent (C Cl4, benzene) during a periodic series of soaks at b. pt. The explosive is predried at 50-60 degrees C. Composition is 40-95 pts. by wt. hexogen or octogen, 3-20 pts soluble polyamide and graphite, Al, plasticiser. The solvent used dissolves caprolactam, w-amino caproic acid and other impurities which cause instability without attacking the polyamides or the explosive.
